Accused Stalker Questioned: 'However What If I Could Be Madeleine?'
A individual accused with stalking Kate McCann allegedly left her a recorded message which questioned: "suppose I am Madeleine?"
Julia Wandelt, twenty-four, who court testimony revealed has repeatedly claimed she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are standing trial indicted with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February the current year.
On Monday, the tribunal heard phone records and data obtained from phones logged Ms Wandelt persistently asking Madeleine's mother for a genetic test during that period.
Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - when she was three years old during a vacation in Portugal - is among the most covered investigations and is still open.
'I Don't Want Money'
Another voicemail, played in court, captured Ms Wandelt declaring: "I know I'm fat and not pretty like Madeleine used to be, but I believe what I know."
While another instance of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's answerphone expressed: "Suppose there is a small chance that I am she? What happens next? Is that not significant for you?"
"I am not seeking money, I possess a living here in Poland, I just want to discover," the recording stated.
The tribunal was told that through electronic messages, text messages and communications, Ms Wandelt asked for a DNA test, sent childhood photos to her phone in a bid to demonstrate a similarity to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and claimed to have "flashbacks" from a early life with the McCanns.
The investigator, an intelligence analyst with the police force who collated the information, told the court there "didn't appear to be any answers" from Mrs McCann.
Ms Wandelt also reached out to acquaintances of the McCanns, according to the phone records.
On that date, Gerry McCann responded to a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "incorrect contact information."
That day Ms Wandelt deposited a voicemail on Mrs McCann's answerphone stating "I will persist and I plan to establish my claim."
The court learned Mrs Spragg developed a connection online with Ms Wandelt preceding joining her on a trip to the McCanns' home in the county in last December.
Phone records revealed Mrs Spragg had communicated using communication app to Mrs McCann to say the news outlets had characterized Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she should be taken seriously in the time preceding the trip to Rothley, Leicestershire, in last December.
The court heard correspondence between the two accused, in last November, discussing attempting to get Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her bins or from cutlery at a dining venue.
"We must assert ourselves," the co-defendant advised Ms Wandelt.
On the occasion of the trip to their house, the defendant dispatched a message which expressed: "We are sitting adjacent to the McCanns' home with our lights out like detectives. I desired to do this with another person I didn't imagine I would be doing that with the McCanns."
The case continues.
