A Ton of Anime News Landed During the Holidays
The Yuletide season provide a multitude of activities far superior than checking the updates: opening presents, getting stuffed on holiday treats, and using meditation skills to not yelling at relatives. It is wished you managed to enjoy all these things and more. However, the world of entertainment never sleeps, and this is especially true for the realm of anime. Many thrilling announcements came out over the festive period, and if you missed a few, here is a compilation of the juiciest bits.
One-Punch Man Season 3 Will Continue (In 2027)
Perhaps the most surprising revelation, the widely-criticized troubled production that was the third season of One-Punch Man failed to halt further production. Season 3 will be back with a second cour in 2027—so far away they easily could have labeled it season 4. More surprisingly, the studio J.C. Staff will continue to be leading the project. Thankfully this time, director Shinpei Nagai is set to direct from the start, which could be taken as a good sign. However, the key visual for the new episodes is a mirror of the one used for season 3, just with protagonists Saitama and Garou facing different directions. This suggests that, nowadays, they are probably mocking the fans.
Ruri Dragon Is Poised to Be the Premiere Shonen Jump Anime From Kyoto Animation
Kyoto Animation has forged a reputation for being an top-tier animation studio, making its mark not just for the high caliber of its productions but for the good working conditions of its employees—a rarity in the industry. Unexpectedly, until now, it had not adapted an anime adapted from a manga serialized in Shonen Jump, arguably the best-known magazine in the field. Ruri Dragon will change that, and what a excellent choice it is. The manga by Masaoki Shindo became massive popularity when it launched in 2022 after just a handful of installments, but then went into a lengthy break due to the mangaka's health issues. When it returned with a lighter schedule, the series proved it maintained the fans' affection and positive sentiment, and now everyone is ecstatic about the forthcoming KyoAni adaptation.
Kingdom Season 6 Is Getting a Follow-Up In Production
Kingdom is the top-selling, epic Shueisha manga that is other than One Piece. If you've never heard of it before, it's because it only recently got an English translation, but the anime has been going on for years, and season 6 was a further excellent entry. Apparently that was just the first half, because a "sequel" has been confirmed as in production, and it will very likely air in 2026.
Science Saru Is Bringing A Witch in Mongolia Into an Anime Series
One more studio famous for the artistic merit of its projects, Science Saru has delivered hit shows of the caliber of Space Dandy, Devilman Crybaby, and, more recently, Dandadan. This time, the studio will be handling the adaptation of Tomato Soup's manga A Witch's Life in Mongol, inspired by the true story of Fatima, an powerful woman and intellectual in the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. Based on the trailer, the anime named Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia will have a truly original and captivating visual style, which evokes Ranking of Kings. Set to premiere in July 2026, this one will definitely be on my list of anticipated shows.
The Tougen Anki Series Will Continue With a Second Season
Shortly after the conclusion of its twenty-fourth episode, it was confirmed that Tougen Anki will be getting a follow-up. Adapted from the Japanese legend of Momotaro, Tougen Anki is based on the manga by Yura Urushibara. The second season of the anime will delve into the Nikko Kegon Falls Arc, but a firm premiere date has not yet been announced.
